Arizona’s sports betting sector saw a notable dip in revenue in March, despite a sharp rise in betting activity, according to the latest figures from the Arizona Department of Gaming.
Combined revenue from mobile and retail sportsbooks fell to US$25 million (£19.7m), marking a 34.1 per cent year-on-year decline from March 2024’s total of US$38 million. The month-on-month drop was even steeper, with revenue down 37.1 per cent from February’s figure of US$39.8 million.

In contrast, total betting handle – the amount wagered – reached US$887.4 million, up 16.8 per cent compared to March 2024 and 26.8 per cent higher than the previous month’s total of US$699.7 million.
Tax contributions followed a similar downward trend to revenue, with March’s sports betting tax receipts falling 34.3 per cent year-on-year to US$2.4 million. Compared to February’s figure of US$3.98 million, this represented a 37.6 per cent month-on-month decrease.
The contrasting trends between handle and revenue suggest that operator margins may have narrowed significantly during the month, a dynamic that continues to shape the state’s evolving sports betting landscape.
